International investment funds set their sights on València

The Next Web (TNW), the driving force behind Europe’s leading annual tech festival, is travelling south to València. On March 30 and 31, European startups are welcome at the TNW València event to connect with over 2000 like-minded spirits, to showcase their business – and to find new investor capital.

València is Spain’s fastest-growing entrepreneurial ecosystem and boasts the most startups per capita anywhere in the country. This makes the city the perfect environment for a TNW event, which for over 15 years has brought together the greatest minds in tech, including the father of the internet, Sir Tim Berners-Lee, Edward Snowden, and other luminaries from tech giants like Microsoft, Google, Meta and more.

This exciting and innovative atmosphere brings not only networking and inspiration, but also opportunity: more than 75 international investors will be searching for their next unicorn at TNW València. A brilliant lineup of high-profile investors will attend, including delegates from Maersk Growth (Camilla Ley Valentin), Gradient Ventures, Portage Ventures, BP Ventures (Ignacio Gimenez Guzman), Speedinvest, Target Global (Lina Chong), Best Nights VC, Octopus Ventures, Activant Capital (Maximilian Mayer), Balderton Capital, Accion (Michael Schlein), Partech and The Fund.

Startups, startups… Is TNW just an opportunity for bootstraps seeking seed funding? Think again. TNW attracts an audience from all stages, from seed and series A to growth capital. Case in point: in 2022, 181 funds joined TNW’s investor program with a combined AUM of over 300BN with investments in over 100 countries.

A spotlight on startups

The TNW for Startups program will help attending startups claim their podium and place in the spotlight. Startups (and scale-ups) with a TNW for Startups package get a free booth to showcase their products or services, along with access to plenty of networking opportunities. But the real magic happens for startups who register before February 20th: they can join Pitch Battles, Sector Spotlights and small-group mentoring sessions:

In ten Pitch Battles, bootstraps and scale-ups can get in front of a panel of judges made up of investors, journalists and industry leaders to share their company’s vision and state-of-the-art. The Pitch Battles present a podium to perfect a pitch, work out those presentation muscles and, hey, perhaps secure some funding.

Selected TNW for Startups participants will be invited to one of the Sector Spotlights, where they can present on how their technology will disrupt their specific sector. Focus sectors include Spacetech, IoT, Mobility, Sportstech, Deeptech, InsurTech, and Climate Tech.

Finally, founders can get up close and personal in intimate “Ask the experts” sessions, where select investors, VIPs and industry experts provide small group mentoring and help startups navigate all the challenges of today’s ecosystem.

All along the way, the TNW team will assist participants. They’ll help set up booths, prepare presenters for their Pitch Battles and arrange the right meetings with investors to ensure startup success.

“As a global pre-seed firm with 300 investments, we see Spain as central to both our connectivity to Europe, and to Latin America”, says attending speaker and investor Scott Hartley, best-selling author, founder and Managing Partner of The Fund. “TNW Valencia has created an excellent way for us as a fund to access the rich talent and opportunity in Spain and Southern Europe. We have deep investor and portfolio ties to the Iberian Peninsula, and are excited to double-down.”
